ATDC has established 65 Vocational Institutes offering longer-duration Diploma programmes and 30 SKP’s approved by AICTE as Skill Knowledge Provider to offer Bachelor’s in Vocational Education through RGNIYD (Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development) to offer two B.Voc Programmes B. Voc in Apparel Manufacturing & Entrepreneurship and B.Voc in Fashion Design & Retail. This makes ATDC the only organization offering shop floor, supervisory and managerial level courses within the education and training eco-system i.e. SMART training for taking care of courses of 1-month to 4-month duration (Skill Level 01-03) and ATDC Vocational Institutes (Skill Level 04-05) for offering months to one year certificate & diploma courses and offering three-year B. Voc courses (Skill Level 05-06-07) based on the “National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF)’ of AICTE.
The impact potential of ATDC is outlined in the comprehensive Skill Pyramid Model for the Apparel Sector which creates a comprehensive training ecosystem offering mobility and progression to aspiring students. Creation of such a comprehensive training ecosystem has accorded a prime position of the largest quality vocational & training provider for the Apparel sector to ATDC which has won four prestigious awards- the “ASSOCHAM Award” for Best Institute Innovation 2018, “Educational Excellence Award 2018” by ASSOCHAM, Best Vocational Institute 2018 by Assocham and the UK-India Skills Forum Award for demonstration of outstanding commitment to the skills agenda by providing employable skills to youth, women & disadvantaged sections of the society.
Bachelor’s Degree Programme ATDC signed a significant MoU with AICTE on 31st December, 2014 for implementation of new generation B.Voc Programmes in Apparel-Fashion-Textiles under the National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF). Thirty ATDCs were approved by AICTE as SKPs and the MoU facilitated ATDC to join hands with a “University” for offering 3 years Bachelor’s Degree NVQ Level 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 Work under direct supervision Work under guidance Work independently Self working and give guidance Managerial Planning and implementation Work independently and quality monitored Certificate Diploma Higher Diploma HND Higher Diploma HND ATDC ANNUAL REVIEW 2019 10 Programmes. ATDC has collaborated with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), an Institute of National Importance (INI) under an Act of Parliament 35/2012, and started B.Voc AME and B.Voc FDR from July 2015. Year 2019-22 is the 5th session for admission in B.Voc Programmes. The total enrollment so far in five academic session has been 1125 students across 25 ATDC-SKPS with 837 candidates under training. The MoU with the AICTE was for a period of 3 years i.e. till 31st December, 2017. AICTE subsequently accorded extension of approval to 30 ATDCs as SKPs under NSQF for a further period of 3 years w.e.f. 31st December, 2017 till 31st December, 2020 on existing terms and conditions vide its letter no. F.No. 2-2/D-SDC/ATDC-SKP/2017 dated 9th April 2018. The MoU with RGNIYD was signed on 14th June, 2015 for a period of 6 years i.e. till 14th June, 2021 and with the extension of MoU with AICTE till 31st December, 2020, ATDC has necessary approvals in place to offer 3-year’s B.Voc Programmes for 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 Admission sessions. Twenty-five ATDC-SKPs are presently offering B.Voc Programmes and 837 students are under training in these ATDC-HUBs. July 2019 session is the 5th year of admissions in the B.Voc Degree courses and 3 new ATDC-HUBs at Bhopal, Kanpur and Dwarka in New Delhi have been added, in terms of infrastructure & faculty resources to start the longer-duration courses. About 285 new admissions have been confirmed for 2019-20 Academic session. The first Convocation for award of degree to 230 student of 1st & 2nd batch of B.Voc students is scheduled in October this year. B.Voc students have bagged good placement in the garment and retail industries. ATDC has signed an MoU with AICTE to offer:
As per the scheme, for award of Diploma/Advance Diploma/Degree, the “Vocational Credits” granted by SKP and “General Credits” granted by University are to be collated. Accordingly, ATDC has collaborated with RGNIYD to impart Level 5, 6 and 7 of the NSQF as SKPs. The new-generation courses are offered at select 25 ATDCs which are approved by AICTE as “Skill Knowledge Provider” (SKP) located close to Apparel Textile Clusters such as Jaipur, Okhla, Dwarka, Noida, Kanpur, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Guindy, Tirupur, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Chhindwara , Indore, Surat, Mumbai, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram, Raipur, Ludhiana, Ranchi, Patna, Chandigarh and Bhopal. Graduating students from different ATDCs have showcased their collections during the Times Fashion Week in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai and found that it has given them enough exposure to launch themselves in the industry as entrepreneur and designers.
