ATDC Thiruvananthapuram has secured the Third Position in the Handloom Fashion Show held at Kerala Arts and Crafts Village.

ATDC Thiruvananthapuram has secured the Third Position in the Handloom Fashion Show held at Kerala Arts and Crafts Village. The event was organized by the Kerala Government and witnessed participation from 18 teams across Kerala and other states. The competition was a two-day event. On the first day, the expert panel evaluated all materials, trims, and accessories to ensure they were strictly handloom and organic. Our theme for the show was “Ukiyo-e Japanese Art, inspired by Kintsugi”, which symbolizes beauty in imperfection and resilience. For the collection, we sourced authentic handloom fabric (above 200 GSM) from HANTEX, an official Kerala Government handloom outlet. The fabric was manually dyed in Indigo Blue, and to reflect the Kintsugi inspiration, we incorporated a variety of surface design techniques such as screen printing, Aari work, and hand embroidery. Each garment underwent verification by experts from the handloom sector before being presented on the runway. The collection consisted of five unique garments, conceptualized and designed with great care. Design Concept : Faculty member Mr. Adhul T.M. Pattern Making & Stitching: BVoc and AVI students, under continuous guidance and monitoring by all faculties. Modeling: Voluntary support from friends and well-wishers (because of physical restrictions we have to take 4 models from outside) The entire team of students and staff contributed wholeheartedly, making this a prestigious project for our Centre. This recognition stands as a testament to the creativity, technical skill, and collaborative spirit of ATDC Thiruvananthapuram. #ATDCIndia #thiruvananthapuram #handloom #fashionshow
